I strive to provide unique high quality cakes custom made for each client. I have been decorating cakes since 1991, doing wedding cakes since 1992. I am truly a lover of all things sugar and proud to be a cake designer. My Grandmother decorated cakes out of her home and is my source of inspiration, she is an incredible woman and nothing makes me prouder than to be in business doing what she did.
I opened my small Cake Studio for business in 1997 at the age of 25. My Dads dream was always to be self employed and I was motivated by a passion for the industry and a passion to live a legacy for him and make him proud as a small business owner. After one year in business I started booking an average of 200 weddings a year and it has stayed my number one passion ever since! Ask anyone or ask me, I love my wedding couples and my wedding cakes.
In 2000 I started adding staff to my little shop to accommodate the growing requests for unique cakes. I am hands on and work on every cake and meet with every wedding client personally to design a cake unique to each couple. Custom designed wedding cakes are my passion and I love nothing more than sketching out an idea for a cake personal to a couple and than seeing it come to life in various forms of sugar!
With a background in art and design, having attended Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, I love a challenge and am motivated and excited to provide great tasting, beautiful cakes that are the centerpiece of your reception or party.
In the summer of 2011 my amazing 8 year old capitalist daughter decided she wanted to make some money, so with ALOT of my help she started a small stand next to our shop selling what we called Fabu-lux cupcakes. We had lines, and we only advertised on Facebook, than we started to do pop-up sales, and promoting it heavier on Facebook. Eventually Due to popular demand we expanded into the retail sector and moved to a bigger space in the old Schoenberger’s building. We opened our New Sweets Boutique under the polka dots in November 2012. We specialize in our Fabu-Lux cupcakes, cookies, small desserts, bars and more. In March of 2015 we opened a second location in Appleton as a satellite offering the same product that we bake fresh in Oshkosh and deliver up fresh twice a day.
I have taken courses and taught courses with other cake experts and attend seminars and conferences nationwide. I love a challenge and a competition and have won first place, people’s choice and Best of show repeatedly in the Wisconsin Baker’s Associations Extreme Wedding Cake Challenge, have won gold and Best of show repeatedly at the Wisconsin Baker’s Creative Cake Competition and a gold medal winner at the Upper Midwest Bakery Association’s Cake Competition… check out our press and bio for more of our story and experience.
